Matthew 18 Sermon Series

We are taking a break from our study of John for a 5 part sermon series on Matthew 18. Please join us as Pastor Jake takes us through verse by verse this important chapter and shows us what God’s word says. This isn’t the easiest section of the Bible to tackle together. But because of a love for scripture, we will tackle it together and see the blessings that follow from doing things God's way.

WHAT KIND OF CHURCH ARE WE?

Our stance is MISSIONAL.

We have a mission because Jesus had a mission. Our attachment is to the name of Jesus more than any other name and to the message of the Gospel more than any other message. Our mission is the Great Commission.

Our style is INTENTIONAL.

We will go. We will serve. We will send. We are not casual about the mission or the message of the church.  We are scheming to win against the gates of hell and the trickery of the devil.  We are not fearful, we are faithful.

Our spirit is TRANSFORMATIONAL.

We are a vessel of life, advancing His kingdom by proclaiming His living Word which when coupled with the power of the Holy Spirit brings new, transformed lives.  We are not here to pamper people or to gain a “nice” reputation in the community.  We proclaim the message of a loved, adopted, Spirit-directed life.

Our soul is RELATIONAL.

The deeper sentiment is first upward and then outward.  We exist first to please God and then to reach people.  There is one necessary vertical relationship, there are many horizontal relationships.  Both and all are driven by this root value.  To be God-pleasing and people-reaching gives life to our mission and our message.

SUNDAY MORNING WORSHIP AT NSCC What to Expect

Worship at 10am strives to lead worshipers in authentic, whole-hearted praise of the Lord.  The songs which are chosen are meant to invite worshipers to enter into His presence in spirit and in truth.  Various music styles and instruments are used.  The serving of the Lord’s Supper and the receiving of the offering is included.

PREACHING AT NSCC

We believe that the Bible is worth preaching. A fundamental goal in our preaching is to let the Word speak.  The exposition of the Scripture is held high.  Preaching primarily focuses on the developed sermon themes of our pastor.  Even in topical series, the goal is to say what the Bible says.  The sermon series avoid devotional flimsiness and are designed to be substantial and faith-building.
